This is Bristol -- POLICE have confirmed they have launched a formal investigation into the nightclub attack on Josie Gobson's brother. The Big Brother star was enjoying a night out in Clifton with her younger brother Harry when he was set upon for being deaf. The group were in the Dojo Lounge when the attack on the 27-year-old took place. Harry was left deaf and unable to talk as a result of a childhood bout of meningitis and he was beaten up after he was unable to give a fellow clubber directions. The police were informed of the incident but have now launched a formal investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward. A spokesman for Avon and somerset Police said; "We are appealing for witnesses to an assault at the Dojo Lounge nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning. A 27-year-old man was assaulted in the Park Row nightclub at around 2.30am, while on a night out with his family and friends. The victim, who lives in Cheshire, suffered facial injuries including a suspected broken nose." The incident was reported to police on Sunday afternoon and officers are in the process people who witnessed the assault. Investigating officer PC Anneliese Jackson said: "We received a third party report of an assault at the Dojo Lounge nightclub and would like to speak to anyone who was in the nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning, especially if they witnessed the assault. "We have now taken a statement from the victim and are treating this as a serious assault. There are a number of enquiries being carried out and we will be viewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses to help establish the full circumstances." Josie, who was celebrating her birthday on Saturday night, said on Twitter: "Lost all faith in man kind tonight. I went to the toilet and my brother got beaten up for being deaf!!! What a disgusting world we live in." She then posted a photo of her brother covered in blood and said: "Im going to hunt the bullies who did this! The nicest guy ever was beaten up because they thought he was deaf & dumb." Josie, who grew up in Yate, supports Kingswood-based charity Meningitis UK after seeing what the illness did to her younger brother when he was just a baby. She once told the Bristol Post: "We nearly lost Harry – it was touch and go. I know how lucky he was but there are many families who tragically lose loved ones or face life-altering after-effects due to this terrible disease." Anyone who can help the inquiry should call PC Anneliese Jackson on 101 quoting reference number 8969/14. Reported by This is 2 days ago.
