![Tributes pour in for Gloucester stabbing victim Martin Stokes]()
This is Gloucestershire -- TRIBUTES are pouring in for the victim of a stabbing who has lost his battle for survival after a week of treatment in hospital. Martin Stokes died late on Monday night at Frenchay Hospital, near Bristol, where he was being treated for stab wounds. He was 30 years old. He suffered wounds to his head and chest after an incident at a house in Nettleton Road in the centre of Gloucester on Monday, January 13. Tony Poole, 51, faces two charges of wounding with intent, after another man, Benjamin McGregor Clark, 47, was also injured. Tributes are being paid to Mr Stokes on Twitter, including from Gloucester professional snooker player Robert Milkins. "RIP Martin Stokes!" he tweeted. "So sad how you've been taken at such a young age, one of the few good guys and will be missed by so many! x" Yesterday morning the Avon coroner's office confirmed it had been informed of Martin Stokes' death. A Gloucestershire Constabulary spokesman said he died at around 11.50pm on Monday, January 20, and the force moved to quash false claims Poole was also dead. "There have been rumours on social media that Anthony Poole has committed suicide in prison," said a force spokesman. "These rumours are not true and Poole remains in custody. "Police are still eager to hear from anyone who was in the area or at the scene of the incident. "Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 418 of January 13." Poole, 51, of Melbourne Street East, Gloucester, faces two charges of wounding with intent and was remanded in custody by magistrates last Thursday. Poole is alleged to have stabbed Benjamin McGregor-Clark and Mr Stokes in Mr McGregor-Clark's Nettleton Road home. He will next appear before Gloucester Crown Court on February 14 for a preliminary hearing.* Tributes paid to Martin Stokes *
